Three boys & one idea
We (Oli, Laszlo, and Julien) founded the HFMSTRS Racing Department out of the conviction that historic racing doesn't have to be elitist and outdated. We wanted to make the fascination of motorsport accessible to everyone and show that motorsport can also be a sport for the masses.
But what does "HFMSTRS" stand for?
HFMSTRS stands for "Hofmeisters" and refers to the German vehicle designer Wilhelm Hofmeister. In 1961, he created the so-called Hofmeister kink on the C-pillar, a design feature that remains unmistakable to this day and has characterized every BMW model since. As the BMW community, we are therefore his "Hofmeisters."
We don't have the vast resources of the professional teams, but we have something better: an unbreakable will and a community that supports us. We do our own repairs, we laugh a lot, but as soon as the visor is down, we race to win.
Our philosophy
1. Respect the Past
We honor the engineering of past decades. Our vehicles are not replicas, they are witnesses to history. We keep them alive by driving them as they were meant to be driven: full throttle.
2. Embrace the Future
A racing team without a camera is invisible today. We document every step – victories, defeats, oil slicks. We make motorsport accessible to a generation that seeks authenticity.
3. Open Paddock
No red cords, no VIP box attitude. We're breaking down the barriers between team and fans. Anyone wearing HFMSTRS merch is part of the crew. Our budget is the passion of the many.
Pragmatic instead of fancy.
Anyone visiting our paddock will search in vain for canapés, catering staff, or champagne coolers. We do things differently.
At HFMSTRS, the simple gas grill is the centerpiece of the paddock. We grill our own sausages – often still in our racing suits between qualifying and the race. This isn't about saving money, it's a statement.
We serve beer by the bottle and offer honest conversations on equal terms, instead of small talk in a VIP lounge. True to our motto: Just drop by and join in!
